Man charged with causing grievous injuries, another with breaching the peace

Two men, of foreign nationalit­y, were arraigned separately in Gozo on Christmas Day, police said. The two were involved in a fight in Xlendi on 23 December.

A 24-year-old Nigerian, resident in Żebbuġ, Gozo, was charged with grievously injuring a 30-year-old man, breaching the peace and breaching conditions imposed by a previous court ruling.

He pleaded not guilty but was refused bail.

The 30-year-old man, of Somalia, resident in Munxar, was charged with public disorder and breaching the peace, as well as breaching conditions imposed by a previous court ruling. He was granted bail.

The prosecutio­n was led by Inspector Bernard Charles Spiteri.

The police did not give the names of the accused.
