Tara Abdilla unstoppable as she registers another win in the Eurosport Trail Running League

-

As the Eurosport Trail Running League is well on its way, the third race took nearly 140 runners to the stunning location of Munxar. This time the race was held on a Saturday afternoon in a most welcomed bright and sunny afternoon.

The 10k route which took runners around Marsascala and Delimara is dotted by a variety of narrow pathways and hilly inclines.

There was no stopping Tara Abdilla (La Salle AC) who has dominated the League from the very start. Abdilla, also made it to the overall top ten classification, beating quite a few strong males in the process. Following in her footsteps once again was Carmen Hili (St. Patrick’s AC). This formidable duo have shown consistency from the very first race and are leading the top posts on the general classification. Third placed was Dzintra Grech.

A surprise entry in the Males Category saw Florian Gall pip Ryan Farrugia (Raptorz Running Club) to first place with a twenty seven second advantage. However, a second place for Farrugia should not affect his over all position in the general classification. Third placed was Gerald Grech (AS Libertas) who has been closely following Farrugia throughout the League.

“The penultimate race of the League has continued to prove how much Trail Running is becoming popular. We keep seeing new faces in each race, some athletes have never ran a race before and they keep coming up to us telling us what a welcoming atmosphere these races have” explained Warren Muscat, President, Agones SFC. “This is truly our reward to the commitment the Club puts into these races. We are also mindful of the environment so we make sure that all materials used are environmentally friendly and have removed the use of plastics throughout”.

The ‘Eurosport Trail Running League 2019’ is organised by Agones Sfc and sponsored by Eurosport, with the support of Xemxija Pitstop and Nature Valley.

The last race of the Eurosport Trail Running League will take place on Sunday 7th April and will be the 19km Victoria Lines route that stretches from the East to the West part of Malta finishing at Fomm ir-riħ. This route is not short of breath taking views, challenging route and exposure to some of Malta’s best country side. Some spaces are left for this race so athletes are encouraged to register by going to www.agones-sfc.eu.
