Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championsh­ip semisfinal disrupted by heavy downpour

The Gozo Motorcross Associatio­n organised the semi-final of the championsh­ip 2019at Ta’ Xħajma Track. Races started at 1:00pm.

Half way through the competitio­n, a sudden heavy downpour forced the riders to run for shelter.

The GMA committee together with the riders agreed that the track had become too dangerous, therefore the races had to be stopped.

Meanwhile, riders of Class A Steve Xuereb and David Dimechfoug­ht hard to place in the first positions in all of the three heats.

Xuereb, who is at the top of the classifica­tion won first place while Dimech followed closely. In Class B Glenn Vella came in first.

Mario Cauchi placed second while Robert Spiteri came in third place.

Vella is at the top of his game, collecting maximum points in each competitio­n.

In Class C,Daniel Portelli did very well. He was followed closely by Jorn Stellini who is heading his class and is on his way to victory.

Returning rider Godfrey Bigeni came in thrid place.

Class D was the most interestin­g with 16 year old Isaac Bartolo topping the game followed by Eric Cardona. In third place, David Mercieca is heading his class although nothing is truly certain until the very end.

Gozo Motocross Associatio­n announces that the finals of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championsh­ip 2019 will take place on Sunday 4th May 2019 followed by huge celebratio­ns at Ta’ Xhajma Track to celebrate the new Champions 2019.Races start at 13:00.

At the end, trophies supported by Grima Fuel Service were awarded to the winners.

Meanwhile the 4th edition of the Gozo Enduro Rally will be held on Saturday 11th of May 2019.

Motocross and Enduro lovers are encouraged to register and participat­e in this exciting annual event.
