Some Mount Carmel Hospital wards closed for renovation
Parts of Mount Carmel Hospital are currently closed due to serious infrastructural problems, and are undergoing refurbishment as part of a five-year plan for the modernisation of the complex, Health Minister Chris Fearne said yesterday.
Speaking in Paola after footage published recently showed infrastructural failings at the hospital, Fearne said that the five-year refurbishment programme for the 15-year-old hospital was announced last October.
In the meantime, patients were temporarily relocated into another building outside Mount Carmel until these wards are refurbished and safe. He said that the government has dedicated €5.6 million to renovations.
