Servizz.Gov to double regional hubs and need new headquarte­rs

The public services branded as Servizz.Gov are to have the regional hubs opened in various localities double in number, along with the introducti­on of a new headquarte­rs, Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar said.

Cutajar was addressing the annual conference of the public service’s heads of department along with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

The most crucial measure, he announced, was that the implementa­tion report for the budget would, for the first time, be tied to the goals set by the United Nations.

In his speech, Muscat said that they cannot achieve the budget or recommenda­tion of individual institutio­ns without those present.

He maintained that whilst public services must be mobile-friendly, research into how new technologi­es can be used must be intensifie­d - particular­ly with the large amount of traffic the services received.

Every month, the 153 hotline received 48,000 calls, and the servizz.gov website received 500 emails and 42,000 unique users.

Muscat said the regional hubs offered crucial face to face service, offered 250 services and helped over 20,000 individual­s.

Also speaking from the conference, Cutajar said that this was organised every year to give direction and to look back, and its theme is was chosen to give a taste of what public services is moving towards.

“Service must be excellent, and for it to be so, then it must focus, without exception, on the client.@

He celebrated how in 2013 the public service a political issue, but has now become a service that receives awards.

“In spite of the objectives that we achieved - the vision is to give service to everyone everywhere all year round.”
