Brian Galea wins Muscat Cup trap competitio­n

Brian Galea has made it three times in a row when he won the prestigiou­s Muscat Cup at the Bidnija Shooting ranges.

This was the third shoot out of eight of the Trap tournament being organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation.

Galea was joined on the podium by William Chetcuti and by Christophe­r Vella who finished in second and third places respective­ly.

The six finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualificat­ion scores were:

William Chetcuti with the score of 44/50 + 3 shoot-off, Brian Galea scored 44/50 + 2 shoot-off, George Grech 44/50 + 1 shoot-off, Christophe­r Vella hit 42/50, Stephen Vella 41/50 and James Galea Jr. managed to qualify with Bib No: 6 after he won a six-way shootoff with the score of 40/50 + 6 shootoff.

The finals results were:

1st Brian Galea 19/25 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 9/10, total score 43/50

2nd William Chetcuti 21/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 8/10, total score 39/50

3rd Christophe­r Vella 18/25 + 5/5 + 3/5 + 3/5, total score 29/40

4th James Galea Jr. 16/25 + 4/5 + 4/5, total score 24/35

5th Stephen Vella 17/25 + 2/5, total score 19/30

6th George Grech 15/25, total score 15/25

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores:

Class A

1st Brian Galea 44/50 (Countback Rule)

2nd William Chetcuti 44/50

3rd Christophe­r Vella 42/50

Class B

1st Michael Grech 40/50 (Countback Rule)

2nd Noel Attard 40/50

3rd Frank Scorfna 38/50

Class C

1st George Grech 44/50

2nd Keith Cauchi 37/50

3rd Michael Galea 34/50

The MSSF Trap programme continues on Sunday at the Malta National Shooting ranges.
