Actor Ryan Reynolds looking to invest in Welsh soccer club Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could be making an unlikely foray into the soccer business. Wrexham, a Welsh team which plays in the fifth tier of English soccer, revealed Wednesday that Reynolds and McElhenney are the "two extremely well-known individual­s" the club has previously said are interested in investing 2 million pounds. Reynolds is a Canadian-born actor best known for starring in the "Deadpool" movies. McElhenney, a friend of Reynolds, is an American actor and director who was the creator of TV show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelph­ia." Wrexham has been a fanowned club since 2011. Members of its supporters trust voted at a special general meeting Tuesday in favor of allowing talks to start with Reynolds and McElhenney. The National League — the division in which Wrexham plays — has yet to start its season because of the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Tour champion Pogacar's yellow jersey sold for charity

Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar's yellow jersey was sold for 47,000 euros Friday in a charity auction organized by Slovenia's national public radio. Pogacar's jersey was bought by a Slovenian businessma­n. Organizers said the money will be used to support talented young sportsmen in Slovenia from underprivi­leged families. The 22-year-old Pogacar became the youngest winner in the 116-year history of the tour on Sunday. He finished ahead of another Slovenian, Primoz Roglic. Slovenia, an Alpine nation of 2 million people, is known as nature-loving and sports oriented. It is also the home country of U.S. first lady Melania Trump.

Tottenham received a bye Friday to advance to a League Cup meeting with Chelsea after its game against Leyton Orient was called off due to a coronaviru­s outbreak at the fourthtier team. Tottenham will now host Chelsea on Tuesday in the fourth round in a run of three home games in three different competitio­ns across five days. Jose Mourinho's side plays Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday and Maccabi Haifa in Europa League qualifying on Thursday. Orient's League Two game on Saturday against Walsall has also been called off due to members of the squad having to self-isolate. The east London club had hoped to rearrange the match against Tottenham after it was called off hours before Tuesday's kickoff.

Marseille reinforces attack with Brazilian teenager Henrique

Marseille signed Brazilian striker Luis Henrique on Friday as the French club reinforced its attack ahead of returning to the Champions League. Financial terms were not revealed but according to sports daily L'Equipe he cost 12 million euros and signed a five-year deal. Marseille ended runner-up in the French league last season to qualify directly for the Champions League. The team, coached by André Villas-Boas, was in second place behind Paris Saint-Germain when the league ended early amid the coronaviru­s pandemic.
