Five Island Car Club members represent Malta in Braga Hillclimb Masters

Between Friday 8th and Sunday 10th, five Maltese Hillclimb Racing Teams members of the Island Car Club represented Malta at the FIA Hillclimb Masters in Braga in Portugal.

The Masters brought together the winners of national championships recognised by the local ASNs, the Malta Motorsport Federation in the case of Malta, as well as the winners of the FIA Championship, Challenge and Cup.

Together with their respective teams, the five drivers that represented Malta were Kurt Camilleri, Keith Camilleri, Kenneth Camilleri, Matthew Zammit, and Zach Zammit. The Federation chose Jonathan Tonna as Team Captain; William England represented the Federation in his capacity of Vice-President. Dylan Darmanin also accompanied the contingent as the official photographer.

Kurt Camilleri, on his Suzuki, Powered Radical finished in 24th place, 10th in his category and 5th in his class.

On his Empire Wraith Suzuki, Zachary Zammit finished in 30th place, 13th in his category and 8th in his class.

Keith Camilleri, on his Suzuki, powered Radical finished the weekend in 45th place overall amongst 152 cars, 16th in Category 4 and 7th in his class.

Kenneth Camilleri, on his Suzuki, powered Dallara finished the weekend in 66th place overall, 22nd in Category 4 and 12th in his class.

Matthew Zammit finished the race in 83rd place, 25th in his category and 13th in his class on his Suzuki Van Diemen.

Team Malta Captain, Jonathan Tonna, said “This was a great experience for our drivers, teamwork amongst our teams was tremendous. All drivers are happy with their performance and looking forward to the next one.” Tonna finished by thanking everyone involved and the Malta Motorsport Federation for entrusting him with the role of Team Captain for the second consecutive time.
