Senglea Gunners and Żurrieq Sunrise continued their winning trend in the MAFA First Division as they won their respective delicate encounters.

Senglea Gunners 2 Tal-Qroqq Versity 0 George Frendo was inspiratio­nal for Senglea Gunners as he netted a brace in the match against Tal-Qroqq Versity Kamelasa. As Senglea won 2-0, they controlled most of the game, with the side from Tal-Qroqq finding keeper Ludvic Fardell in fine form as he performed a string of important saves to keep his team in the game.

This win helped the Gunners to stay on top of the standings

1 Qormi Hotspurs proved to be a tough nut to crack for Valletta St Pauls and it was only at the end that they had to succumb to a 31 defeat. The Citizens dominated most of the possession but found the Qormi keeper in fine form as he denied them on a number of occasions.

Qormi surged ahead on 60 minutes through Matthew Scicluna but Valletta made a quickfire reaction and managed to turn the tables thanks to Tyron Borg, Kane Psaila and Axel Fleri.

Swieqi Braves confirmed their intention to challenge for the MAFA Third Division title as they had a positive outing against Ta' Ġiorni Wanderers winning 4-0.

The French students were in a class of their own and scored the most important goals through Antoine Penas, Timote Mazzoni, Estebane Ringuet and Tanguy Mathe.

On their part, Ta' Ġiorni Wanderers suffered their second consecutiv­e defeat and are still in search of their first points of the season.
