Malta donates 131,000 vaccine doses to the people of Iran

-

The Government of Malta has donated 131,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Health Ministry and Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a joint statement.

This sharing of vaccines was undertaken with the assistance of the European Commission and follows efforts by a number of other European countries to share vaccines for the benefit of the Iranian people.

A special flight, coordinated by the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, landed in Tehran carrying the vaccines, which were received by a team of officials from Iran’s Ministry for Health and Medical Education.

Malta’s entire vaccination-sharing efforts, which have resulted in the delivery of more than 400,000 vaccine doses to countries in need in the last months, have been jointly led by officials from the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry for Health, working closely with the Civil Protection Department.

Covid-19 vaccine donations are expected to continue in the coming weeks and months, the ministries said.
