Zebbug and San Gwann maintain winning streak

-

Żebbuġ Youngsters and San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy maintained their perfect streak in the MAFA Second Division 15 days before their top of the table clash.

Żebbuġ recorded their sixth win of the season as they saw off Żejtun Laċċi 4-0. The top scorer of the league Joao Orban was once again in fine form as he scored a hat-trick while Matthew Bugeja added another one for his team.

Referee: Jason Penza.

San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy edged Mosta Vikings 3-2. After establishing a three-goal advantage courtesy of Sefa Onmaz, Liam Grandehomme and Wissam Bensaidi, the Vikings made a reaction in the last part of the game with Calvin Agius coming to the fore with a quick brace. Unfortunately it was too late in the day for the Mosta side as they succumbed to their fourth defeat of the season. Referee: Jonathan Balzan. Balluta Barracudas obtained the biggest win of the weekend as they easily disposed of Fgura Spartans 6-0. Nick Borg was the Cudas' hero as he netted a hattrick with Diego Mora hitting the target twice. Jorge Benitez completed the score for the winners.

Referee: Jean Pierre Mifsud. Mqabba Albions maintained their positive patch as they saw off Naxxar Victorians 3-0. Kyle Bonnici put them ahead after 20 minutes with Jerome Azzopardi doubing the score half an hour later. Miguel Grima rubberstamped the Albions solid victory.

Referee: Reno Galea.

In the only match played from the MAFA Third Division, Birkirkara St Joseph and Gudja Wanderers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. This results little changed their position in the standings.

Keith Mifsud surged Gudja ahead on 42 minutes while Tyron Delia restored parity for Birkirkara.

Referee: Georgi Bitri.
