Cittadella wins Regiostars Public Choice Award

-

Cittadella in Gozo has won this year’s Regiostars Public Choice Award.

Gozo Minister, Clint Camilleri, said that the news was an honour for all Gozitans and Maltese, and that the prestigious award, wherein the project was voted as the best out of some 300 entries from across the European Union, places Gozo on the map.

“We are committed to taking care of our heritage and of keeping Cittadella in the best state possible, while looking forward to more honours like these”, Camilleri said.

Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds, Chris Bonett, meanwhile expressed his satisfaction that this is the first project carried out with European Funds to win the Regiostars Award.

Bonett noted how the project in Cittadella was done with the investment of over €14 million, of which €12 million were funded from the European Regional Development Fund.

2022 was the 15th edition of Regiostars, ever since it had started as a competition back in 2008, where the Regiostars Awards are a prestigious competition organised by the European Union with the scope of showing off the best projects in member states and using them as best practice examples.

The difference when compared to previous years is that this year, 15 projects were selected as finalists – one for every year that the competition was being organised respectively.
