Qormi Daikin beat Hotsticks to win Challenge Cup

Qormi Daikin clinched the Chal‐ lenge Cup organized by the Hockey Associatio­n of Malta as they beat eternal rivals GREE Sliema Hotsticks 7‐6 after the penalty shoot‐outs.

It was a nail‐biting affair be‐ tween the strongest teams in Malta with Sliema establishi­ng a 4‐2 advantage but with Qormi that managed to level the score and go to the shoot‐outs.

An own‐goal by Luke Brincat put the Yellow/Blacks ahead but Sliema had a better second quar‐ ter and turned the tables through a Benjamin Johnston brace.

The third quarter was another positive one for Sliema as they scored two more goals from Ryan George and Chris Agius.

Qormi were the best team in the final quarter where they managed to restore parity thanks to Luke Bajada and Juan Sarcia.

In the penalty shoot‐outs, Qormi won 3‐2 for a total score of 7‐6.

At the end of the match, Gordon Mifsud the HAM president pre‐ sented the cup to captain Kurt Grixti among the jubilation of his team‐mates.
