Charles Camilleri in action at Vincennes Paris

-

The Prix de Rencontres Inter‐ nationales this year returns to the Vincennes racetrack in Paris as fifteen drivers hailing from different countries to which French trotters are exported face each other in this international encounter. Next Friday evening Malta will be represented by Charles Camilleri who will be taking part in this race for the third time after he had finished 4th in 2010 and 9th in 2015. This will be Camilleri’s 14th race in France having registered a vic‐ tory in 2008 at the Prix de Malte in Laval with Kaprice d’Ecajeul.

The race is over 2100m open for horses aged from 6 to 9 being advertised for sale at €18,000. Camilleri has drawn mare num‐ ber 3 Enerise Flash.

This race also forms part of a gala event during which an award is given to the best French trotter in each country where French horses are exported. Last year’s best French horse in Malta was Febus du Juille who had been imported as a five‐year old at the end of 2020. During 2021 he won 9 out of his 14 starts and not being placed only once in the other 5 races. It is interesting to note that this horse whilst he had raced several times in France had never registered a win and up till now in Malta he has taken 12 victories. Owner James Dimech and his usual driver Kurt Saliba will be receiving this award. The Maltese delegation is accompanied by Mr Edwin Borg vice chairman of the Malta Rac‐ ing Club and EquestriMalta.

The race can be viewed live on the Le Trot website and should start at 22:07.
