Becoming European

-

The Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs has the pleasure of introducing its latest project, Becoming European (BeE). The consortium of this project is composed of eight partners coming from seven different European countries – AKA Wissenschaftliche Hochschule Lahr GmbH in Germany, Archivio Della Memoria in Italy, Volkshochschule Lingen gGmbH in Germany, Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs in Malta, HF&VUC FYN Ringen, Middelfart in Denmark, Dachverband der Burgenlandischen in Austria, CVO Antwerpen-Zuid in Belgium and the European Learning Centre in Spain. They are aiming at developing a comprehensive concept of basic education in the European Union, based on a method that allows a flexible adaptation to individual conditions, which, is also adaptable to specific target groups, socio-cultural backgrounds and conditions of educational institutions.

The consortium has three main objectives: it wants to analyse the problems of a comprehensive and flexible concept of basic education with a European perspective. This means that the cultural, political, economic and technological dimensions are not only add-ons to education but are also included as fields of application for basic literacy or numeracy and especially used for learning competences. Further- more, the partners aim to elaborate the concept of basic education. This will be done on a general competence level not on a content level, so that it can be applied in different educational contexts. Lastly, the partners will implement the concept into the educational work of the consortium.

The project’s life span is of two years, which started on 1 November 2012 and will end on 31 Octo-

ber 2014. For further information about the project contact Ruth Gatt on +356 2122 4900 or send an email on ruth@women.org.mt
