Mental health programme for Middlesea Insurance employees

-

Middlesea Insurance employees and their immediate family members recently started benefiting from the Staff and Organisation Support programme which is offered by Richmond Foundation. Through this agreement, employees can utilise counselling and training services provided by the Foundation so they will become more resilient and equipped in dealing with challenging periods both in their personal or work life.

Employees were given information about the services offered by the Richmond Foundation during an educational talk about stress management held in the company’s premises. During this talk, a number of causes of stress were identified, as well as a number of ways how one can handle stress.

“Our employees are our most valuable asset. While some amount of stress can in itself be beneficial to an individual, high levels of stress that are beyond one’s ability to cope can be very harmful. Stress can lead to a number of physiological problems, and additionally, the way people cope with stress, such as smoking or drinking may also be unhealthy. We acknowledge that job stress can be caused by either the working conditions of the individual as well as workers’ coping habits. Therefore, while ensuring that we provide a positive working environment that does not encourage stress, through our agreement with the Richmond Foundation, we are helping our employees to cope with stress in their daily life,” said Chris Meli, chief officer of Human Resources at Middlesea Insurance.

The Richmond Foundation provides community mental health services that promote mental wellbeing, address the prevention of mental health problems and provide support for good quality of life.
