Hili Properties appoints trade finance expert to chair board

Hili Properties, a division of Hili Ventures, has appointed Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger to chair its board of directors.

Ms Lütschg-Emmenegger is a career trade finance banker and a specialist in forfaiting and factoring. She has been president of the Malta headquarte­red trade finance banking group FIMBank since 2004.

Hili Properties comprises an extensive portfolio of strategic assets held by Hili Ventures in Malta and around Europe. The portfolio is dominated by commercial real estate in prime locations, among which the Hili Ventures head office in Marsa. It also features residentia­l property with key addresses locally and in cities including Riga.

The portfolio includes property housing McDonald’s restaurant­s in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Malta. The restaurant­s are operat- ed by Premier Capital, another division within Hili Ventures.

Educated in Switzerlan­d, Ms Lütschg-Emmenegger joined the board of the Swiss Associatio­n of Forfaiters in 1983, and was founding chairman of the Associatio­n of Forfaiters in the Americas in 1995. In 1999, she co-founded the Internatio­nal Forfaiting Associatio­n and served as deputy chairman until September 2003.

Ms Lütschg-Emmenegger has written extensivel­y on forfaiting and has lectured about forfaiting and factoring around the world. Euromoney published her book A Guide to Forfaiting in 1998.

We are confident her knowledge of property financing and her expertise in multinatio­nal trade will steer Hili Properties on the right course.”
