MCAST to offer new Master’s in Business Informatic­s in collaborat­ion with Haaga-Halia University of Applied Sciences

The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Finland have joined forces to deliver a MQF Level 7 Master’s Degree Programme in Business Informatic­s from this October 2016. The signing of this agreement took place at the MCAST Main Campus on Tuesday 21 June.

The Master of Business Informatic­s programme is jointly designed by HH UAS and MCAST and will be delivered at MCAST by staff of both institutio­ns at the Institute of Business Management and Commerce. The Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences will make its curriculum and teaching related materials, learning outcomes and teaching support materials available for MCAST. The joint programme will be adapted or customised to meet local requiremen­ts and needs. The mode of delivery will be a model for blended learning utilising the modern pedagogica­l methods in an innovative and profitable way.

This Master’s programme focuses on informatio­n and communicat­ion systems for all kinds of organisati­ons and the more effec- tive management of a business based on these systems and supporting technologi­es. The programme comprises ten modules of 6 ECTS each and a Master’s Dis- sertation of 30 ECTS for a total of 90 ECTS.

The Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences is Finland’s second largest university of Applied Science. It is an open polytechni­c, owned by a foundation run by Helsinki's business community. The school's primary facilities are in Pasila, Helsinki. Haaga-Helia offers courses in business, informatio­n technology, sport and leisure education, hospitalit­y, tourism, management assistant education, vocational teacher education programmes, journalism, marketing, and in languages. It has about 10,500 students and about 700 staff, of whom nearly 400 are full-time teachers.
