Help Vodafone spread the word about the planet’s biggest project

Vodafone Malta is joining the likes of Rihanna, Metallica and Chris Martin in raising awareness on the United Nations’ Global Goals.

Vodafone is committed to supporting the United Nations’ Global Goals for sustainable development. Back in September 2015, 193 world leaders adopted a set of 17 goals to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030.

Helping to spread the message is half the battle, which is why Vodafone is giving its customers 500 MB free internet for a week to take action for a better world. The offer is available to all pay monthly customers and to all customers on top-up plans who have a data bundle.

If you’re on a pay monthly plan, get your free internet now by sending a free SMS with the phrase GLOBAL GOALS to 50915719. If you’re on top-up, send the SMS to 50915714 and purchase any bundle until September 24 to get 500MB of extra data.

On September 24, the likes of Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Metallica, Chris Martin, Usher, Ellie Goulding and more will perform live in New York City, in a huge gig which will be live-streamed around the world.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Malta Foundation is also contributing directly to the global effort, particularly by targeting Goal 3 - which ensures healthy lives and promotes well-being for all at all ages - and Goal 4, which centres on inclusive quality education and promotes lifelong learning oppor- tunities for all.

The Foundation is supporting youths in need by providing realtime, one-to-one counselling through the kellimni.com mobile app.

Another Foundation project targets children with severe speech and language difficulties through a customised app used by speech language pathologists to treat them.

Upcoming projects will target disadvantaged adults who lack basic Maltese reading and writing skills through the development of an online toolkit while, in a separate project, a mobile app which maps out how accessible different locations in Malta are is being developed for persons with disabilities.
