Fifth edition of SmartCity Malta Teamsport road races

On Sunday, 25 September, St Patrick’s AC in collaborat­ion with SmartCity Malta and Teamsport, is hosting the fifth edition of the SmartCity Road Races.

The 8km road race will start from Laguna Walk at SmartCity Malta at 8.30am. Runners will proceed to Bighi Bay and then onto Triq ilMissjoni Taljana. From Kalkara, athletes will continue their run to Xghajra through the track around the Kalkara Naval Cemetery and descend to Xghajra promenade and return to Laguna Walk at SmartCity Malta. An 8km walkathon and a 2km junior race will also be held on the day, making it a fun-filled event for the whole family.

Commenting on SmartCity Malta’s support for the race, Sandra Chetcuti, Event, Sales & Marketing manager said: “We are proud to be associated with this race for the fifth consecutiv­e year, especially after the success of the previous events. Such initiative­s reflect the commitment of SmartCity Malta to promote a healthy work-life balance.”

Teamsport director, Michael Darmanin, commented that as one of the race’s sponsors and leading technical sport shops in Malta, Teamsport is committed to support the local athletic community, especially the St Patrick’s Athletic Club which today is one of the longest establishe­d clubs on the island.

Trophies will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers. All participan­ts will receive a commemorat­ive token and a goody bag.

This year, St Patrick’s Athletic Club will be donating €2 from every entry fee of the 8km run/walk, towards the Malta Community Chest Fund, through their campaign Solidarjet­a’ bl-isports.

Applicatio­n forms may be downloaded from www.stpatricks­ac. com. Participan­ts can also apply online on the club’s website where official results will be posted 24 hours after the race.
