Training programme in London for BOV representatives
During the month of February, six Bank of Valletta employees from across the retail network were invited by BOV Asset Management Limited to attend a two-day training programme in London, at Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited and Waverton Investment Management Limited.
This initiative forms part of BOV Asset Management’s mission to train BOV authorised representatives not just locally but also through direct links with its Fund managers for the foreign fixed income and equity based funds.
On the first day, the group met with the Fund managers at Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited for the Vilhena funds, sub-managed by their fixedincome team. The representatives attended a presentation for the Vilhena Broad Opportunities Fund a fund also managed by Insight Investments and considered as one of the core investment solutions used for their customised UK pension investment propositions.
During the presentation, the Fund manager explained that the fund has consistently delivered attractive, equity-like returns with lower level of volatility. As part of the training programme, the BOV employees visited the trading floor at Insight Investments, a valuable experience for anyone working in the investment field.
The second visit was held on the following day at Waverton Investment Management Ltd offices, during which participants attended a series of presentations on the Vilhena Global Themed Fund, the Vilhena European Multi-Manager Fund, Vilhena Far East Opportunities Fund and the Vilhena Global Balanced Multi-Manager Fund. Experts in the field discussed the market opportunities and challenges, as well as the benefits of diversification in an investment portfolio in the current market conditions.
Speaking prior to the event, Mark Agius, Executive head BOV Asset Management Limited, com- mented that: “These training programmes are now an integral part of the company’s annual events. During the past 20 years, a number of BOV employees had the opportunity to meet top Fund managers from Insight Investments and Waverton Investment Management. The experience serves to broaden their perspective, as well as enabling them to share best practices with their peers overseas.”
Mr Agius also noted that such initiatives definitely result in a higher level of service offered to local investors opting to invest in the range of Vilhena funds.
