Prince’s Trust International ‘Get Into’ programme launched in Malta
The Prince’s Trust International ‘Get Into’ programme, which develops young people’s skills and supports them into work, has now been launched in Malta.
‘Get Into’ is a two to six week course designed to help unemployed young people aged 1630 develop sector-specific employability skills, vocational skills, and gain real world work experience to ultimately get them into jobs. ‘Get Into’ is unique in that it involves the employer in both the development and delivery of the programme, thus ensuring that young people are trained to suit the entry-level vacancies available.
Over the last decade this programme has supported more than 35,000 young people in the UK. Building on this success, the programme is now supporting young people internationally and is currently being delivered by local partners in Australia, Barbados, Canada, India, and Jordan.
Over the next few months, local youth organisation Aġenzija Żgħażagħ will be working with a specialist consultant from Prince’s Trust International to deliver five programmes across different sectors, including hospitality and social care. Youth workers from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ will deliver employability skills, training, and support soft skill development such as teamwork, communication, and resilience. Participants will also have the opportunity to work in the industry through the availability of work placements and work buddies supported by the employer partners.
‘Get Into’ has been brought to Malta in collaboration with the HSBC Malta Foundation and the Ministry for Education and Employment, while Aġenzija Żgħażagħ will deliver the ‘Get Into’ programme together with different commercial partners and support from Prince’s Trust International. The commercial partners are an integral part of the programmes and are involved from the start.
Young people are presently being recruited to follow a number of ‘Get Into’ programmes, which include: ‘Get Into’ Hospitality with InterContinental and Hilton Malta; ‘Get Into’ Social Care with Vassallo Group; ‘Get Into’Customer Service with HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta and HSBC Malta Contact Centre; and ‘Get Into’ Retail with Smart Supermarket and Dizz Group.
