APS Bank has a new non-executive chairman with the appointment of Frederick Mifsud Bonnici at the Annual General Meeting held on 27 July. He succeeds Emmanuel P. Delia, who retires after 18 years at the helm. At the same general meeting, Joseph C. Caruana also retired as director.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales), Mifsud Bonnici’s career spans over 42 years, mostly as a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers from where he retired in 2011 as Assurance leader.

He has served as non-executive chairman of Bank of Valletta, Mapfre MSV Life and more recently as a non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee of Medbank Group and its subsidiary Mediterranean Bank.

He was also chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange and president of the Malta Institute of Accountants, on which Council he sat for over 32 years.

Other Board positions held include Malita Investments and Malta Freeport Corporation. He retains the position of non-executive chairman of Blevins Franks Trustees. Mifsud Bonnici is also a member of the S.M.O.M.

The AGM paid tribute to the unstinted dedication and commitment of chairman Delia. His vision has guided the bank’s strategy and serves as a solid platform for its future growth. The important contribution of Caruana, a seasoned and experienced banker of many years’ standing, was also acknowledged. The shareholders and board of directors wished Messrs Delia and Caruana the very best for the future.

The AGM also approved the appoint- ment of Deloitte Audit Malta as the bank’s new auditors. Appreciation was expressed to outgoing auditors EY Malta, for their long years of diligent service to the shareholders of the bank.
