Mapfre joins the fight against breast cancer
Once again this year Mapfre joined in with commemorating the Day Against Breast Cancer on 19 October, with a global information and prevention campaign and a variety of initiatives for company employees all over the world to join in during this month.
In Malta, Mapfre Middlesea held a team-building exercise with all the staff wherein everyone dressed in pink with all the proceeds going towards the Pink October Fund. In addition, to support all the women already affected by this disease, Mapfre changed the colour of the corporate profiles on its social networks and the Group's principal website to pink and in Malta pink banners were placed outside the Head Office building.
In Spain, Mapfre supported and participated in the work of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) by installing information booths on behalf of the organisation in 20 of the centres the insurance company has around Spain, where volunteers from the company handed out pink bows and other symbols of the fight against breast cancer. They have also illuminated the Mapfre Tower in Barcelona and the company's offices in Malaga and Seville in pink.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women all over the world; prevention and early detection is the best way of fighting against this disease, which also affects men, although the incidence is lower for males. Mapfre's health insurance offers special preventive and rehabilitative medical services for the early diagnosis of breast ailments.
This is one of the company's initiatives for raising awareness of and improving the health and well-being of its employees, their families and society, a goal it also promotes via its corporate Healthy Company programme. It is also another of the many activities within Mapfre's Corporate Volunteering Programme, run by Fundación Mapfre, which can be accessed at https://www.middlesea.com/in surance-mt/about-us/fundacion-mapfre/
