The Centre opens for business
The Centre is the latest phase at the Tigné Point development to be completed. Owned by Mid Knight Holdings Limited, a company jointly owned by Midi plc and Mark Weingard, The Centre provides 15,000sq.m. of office space over nine floors.
The Centre consists of two blocks connected via an atrium bridge overlooking the historic Garden Battery which is currently undergoing restoration.
With a prime and central location, this iconic new building offers extensive views, both of the seafront and the piazza. Set within this award-winning unique mixed-use development right in the heart of Sliema, enjoying a carfree environment with catering facilities and retail units in close proximity.
This latest project has already tapped into the growing demand for high quality, centrally located office accommodation and will house over 1,000 occupants once fully occupied. The building is fully tenanted and The Centre is set to house Med Bank and a number of leading gaming companies which are expanding their activities locally.
Developed at a cost of €28m over a period of two-and-a-half years, this project has employed circa 100,000 man days. Furthermore, particular attention has been paid to the sustainable design of the building ‒ The Centre will be the first in Malta to achieve Leed Gold certification, thus ensuring that its impact on the environment is minimised. Furthermore, the building has been fitted out to the highest specifications complete with a state-of-the-art IT services backbone and centralised HVAC heating and cooling throughout the building.
“With this investment we were determined to address the real, current and anticipated future needs of tenants,” said Mid Knight Holdings chairman Joe Gasan. “We are confident that we have done just that here at The Centre.”
Among the many unique key qualities, The Centre stands out also in large part due to Iniala 5, the art gallery found on the ground floor. The brainchild of Mark Weingard and Maria Galea, the gallery is filled with natural light and will house pieces by several local and international artists.
“With this gallery we hope to offer a new platform for the incredible talent found in Malta and a creative space which will unleash more innovative ideas and opportunities for all to enjoy,” said Weingard.
