For the 11th consecutive year the St Paul’s churchyard in Rabat, Malta, witnessed an energetic water gaming sports activity entitled Games for Everyone ( Logħob għal Kulħadd), The event is held over a week and sees teams of children and young adults enjoying a summerly competitive atmosphere.

All this thanks to a strong youth committee called Żgħażagħ Rabtin Pawlini, with the participation of the Responsible Gaming Foundation and the parliamentary secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation in the Prime Minister’s Office.

The parliamentary secretary Silvio Schembri attended this activity and stated clearly that he was very impressed with the strong enthusiasm and organisation shown for such an event dedicated to children and young adults. Schembri said that such activities challenge the young ones physically and hence manage to keep them away from addictions such as gambling. As he thanked the committee and the Responsible Gaming Foundation, the parliamentary secretary ended his speech by saying that “everyone should be at the forefront to encourage activism and invaluable volunteering in local localities such as this”.

The general manager of the Responsible Gaming Foundation Priscilla Muscat talked about the importance of awareness about responsible gaming and also referred to the education campaign among fourth year primary students, where RGF staff visit schools around Malta and Gozo alongside their mascot Chippy to describe and discuss the problem of compulsive gambling from the early ages.

“Gambling is an addiction which carries with it negative consequences.” Muscat also referred to the RGF freephone service 1777, where people suffering from addiction or relatives of such persons can call anonymously and find all the appropriate assistance from the trained staff of the foundation.

The chairman of Żgħażagħ Rabtin Pawlini, Henry Debattista, vice chairman Adriano Farrugia and secretary Norbert Inguanez thanked all those who participated in this event especially the registered teams and members of the public who always came in great numbers and gave a healthy cheering applause during the sporting event.
