A big year for small businesses
The Malta Institute of Accountants holds 10th SME Forum
It is a good time to be an SME if you can properly manage the potential. The SME Forum held by the Malta Institute of Accountants on February 27 will discuss emerging opportunities for small enterprises and practitioners. Now in its tenth edition, the forum has established itself as the major annual event for small businesses, offering expert advice and productive sessions to help entrepreneurs grow.
The 2019 SME Forum presents some of the foremost thought leaders who will share their insights about the latest developments affecting Small and Medium Enterprises and Practitioners. This edition will look at the differ- ent levers that SMEs need to control in order to succeed: finance, recruitment, technology, strategy, leadership.
Apart from SMEs, the event is uniquely placed to inform SMPs about new opportunities for growth. Professionals will also learn about the latest updates in specialised and practical areas including General Accounting Principles as well as Anti-Money Laundering obligations.
Rapid change in different business factors, from legislation to communication systems, gives an advantage to small and medium entrepreneurs who can quickly adapt and offer more value to the market. At the same time, however, these developments present their own challenges.
The banking landscape is a central theme in this year’s SME Forum, and an expert line-up will speak about current and new sources of finance. A special session will focus on the advantages that Big Data brings to small and medium enterprises, discussing the hard issues beyond the hype.
Recruiting and retaining talent is increasingly becoming a challenge for SMEs and participants will hear directly from JobsPlus and Identity Malta about the process of engaging foreign employees. In the meantime, the forum will draw on the soft skills needed by employees today to lead their teams effectively.
Guest speakers will also address areas related to strategy, vision, and leadership. Internationalisation will be a special topic of discussion, turning to the experience of local small enterprises and practitioners who established themselves in other markets.
Registration to the SME Forum includes networking lunch and coffee breaks. For further information about the programme and participation, kindly contact the Malta Institute of Accountants on cpeevents@miamalta.org.
