GTA holds 20th Anniversar­y soirée

This year the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n is celebratin­g its 20th Anniversar­y since its setting up. The associatio­n was set up during a General Meeting held on 11th February, 1999 for all the Gozitan tourism stakeholde­rs and operators. With the inception of the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n, a new chapter was initiated in the tourism history of the Island of Gozo.

To mark this significan­t date, on Tuesday 3rd September, the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n organised a commemorat­ive soirée. During this event the story of GTA during these past twenty years was recounted through an audio-visual feature, while fifty-two past GTA council members were presented by a memento as recognitio­n for their contributi­on towards the achievemen­ts of the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n. These mementoes were presented by the Minister for Gozo, Dr Justyne Caruana, in the presence of GTA Chairman Paul Scicluna.

The numerous guests present were addressed by Mr Scicluna. He stated that key words behind the success of GTA were the togetherne­ss and trust of all the stakeholde­rs and members. Whilst thanking the authoritie­s past and present Mr Scicluna augured more years of initiative­s by GTA.

The event was also addressed by the Executive Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority Dr Gavin Gulia who in his speech commended the achievemen­ts of the associatio­n. He also highlighte­d the excellent working relationsh­ip between MTA and GTA.

In her closing address the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, acclaimed the endeavors of the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n during the past twenty years. Dr Caruana mentioned her ministry’s commitment towards the tourism sector on Gozo and emphasized the need to continue building of the tourism success achieved. In her conclusion she thanked the GTA for its responsibl­e approach towards the Gozitan tourism sector and augured the Gozo Tourism Associatio­n more years of achievemen­ts for the benefit of the tourism sector on Gozo.
