Audit and advisory firm Mazars Malta has reinforced its management team through the appointment of four of its executives to senior positions in the firm, namely Brunella Bugeja as Indirect Tax Manager, Elaine Marie Debono as Direct Tax Manager, and Stephanie Zahra and Darren Bonnici as Audit Managers.

Brunella Bugeja joined Mazars in 2011 as an Accounts Assistant, where she worked on the record keeping and preparation of VAT returns for companies in the retailing, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and the financial services sectors. In 2015, she joined the firm’s Tax Department as a Tax Senior assisting clients with their fiscal requirements. Brunella is currently involved in the provision of VAT advice and assistance with the preparation of VAT returns, for both local and foreign clients.

Elaine Marie Debono joined the Mazars Malta Tax Team in 2014 as a Tax Senior, after having worked at one of the Big Four audit firms for a number of years. She currently assists clients within various sectors, including insurance, hospitality, retail, services, iGaming, and the manufacturing industry, with their statutory fiscal requirements. Elaine provides tax advice to both local and international clients.

Stephanie Zahra commenced her career with Mazars Malta in 2013, and she currently holds the position of audit supervisor within the firm. Her area of expertise is primarily that of assurance, where she is responsible for a number of statutory audits, particularly in the insurance sphere.

Darren Bonnici also joined Mazars Malta in 2013, just after graduating from university. Since then, he has been involved in the auditing of a wide range of clients, with a particular focus on businesses operating in the wholesale, insurance and iGaming sectors.

Commenting on these appointments, Mazars Malta Managing Partner Anthony Attard stated that “the growth that we have experienced over recent years has generated the creation of career opportunities for our professional staff members, and the need to continue investing in specialised service areas.
