Malta registers second highest increase in industrial production in EU in November
In November compared with October, seasonally adjusted industrial production rose by 0.2% in the euro area and fell by 0.1% in the EU28, according to estimates from
Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
In October 2019, industrial production fell by 0.9% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU28.
In November compared with November 2018, industrial production decreased by 1.5% in the euro area and by 1.3% in the EU28.
In the euro area in November, compared with October, production of capital goods rose by 1.2% and energy by 0.8%, while production of intermediate goods fell by 0.5%, non-durable consumer goods by 0.7% and durable consumer goods by 0.8%.
In the EU28, production of durable consumer goods fell by 0.9%, non-durable consumer goods by 0.6% and intermediate goods by 0.4%, while production of capital goods rose by 0.6% and energy by 0.7%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in industrial production were registered in Lithuania (+3.0%), Malta (+2.6%), Poland and B (both +1.6%). The largest decreases were observed in Denmark ( 4.7%), Ireland (-4.1%) and Greece (-3.7%).
In the euro area in November, compared with November 2018, production of intermediate goods fell by 2.8%, capital goods by 2.0% and energy by 1.9%, while production of durable consumer goods rose by 1.2% and non-durable consumer goods by 1.6%.
In the EU28, production of intermediate goods fell by 2.3%, capital goods by 2.1% and energy by 1.5%, while production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 1.8% and durable consumer goods by 1.9%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases in industrial production were registered in Greece (-8.3%), Romania (-7.5%) and Estonia (-7.2%). The highest increases were observed in Hungary (+5.7%), Poland (+5.6%) and Finland (+3.7%).
