Eden Leisure Group win the Management Award for Sustainable Development

-

The Eden Leisure Group has been awarded with the Management Award for Sustainable Development, for its hard work and dedication toward green initiatives and efforts made to be an exemplary corporate citizen.

ELG set up their 'Green Committee' in July 2018 with the purpose of pushing the company to become more environmentally friendly and adopt greener practices.

The company has made sure to reduce paper usage with more efficient data storage system, while making use of sustainably resourced paper when paper is used around the office. Waste paper is now collected from each office and recycled. Additionally, energy saving lights were installed in each and every department.

Intelligent AC systems have also been installed inside the Eden Cinemas. These ACs automatically turn on and off when the room hits a certain temperature resulting in less energy consumption.

Apart from the efforts made in-house throughout the year, the Green Committee also spearheaded a number of national awareness campaigns using the company’s wide social media reach. 'Bay Breakfast' duo, Daniel and Ylenia also visited the local Ta' Qali Market on a Saturday morning, promoting and distributing re-usable bags.

Beach and country-side clean ups were also organised at which the public was encouraged to join the ELG staff to clean up specific areas around Malta. A tree planting initiative took place in November, during which ELG staff planted 150 trees in Ta' Qali thanks to fund donated by the group.

Kate Decesare, Director of Operations at Eden Leisure Group and chairperson for the Green Committee stated, "Adopting sustainable practices at the work place is a duty for all business. It needn't be complicated or expensive - on the contrary, it can offer enjoyable team building opportunities and bring people together to work for a common goal outside of their regular duties. It's win-win!"
