30 years of strong bilateral relations with Armenia
“Since 1993, in these 30 years, bilateral relations with Armenia have been excellent, but we feel that we need to continue intensifying them,” Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, Ian Borg, said during a bilateral meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Armenia in our country, Ararat Mirzoyan.
During the meeting, a number of subjects were discussed in which, through effective cooperation, the two countries and their respective people can truly benefit. Minister Borg stated that Malta is committed to continue providing assistance and facilitating the possibility of doing more business between the two countries, despite the challenges that exist. He further stated how both countries will be exploring the possibility of further cooperation in the sectors of information technology, solar energy, education and English teaching.
Minister Borg said that he also looks forward to finalise the agreement on digitalisation with more political consultations to take place between the two countries.
Minister Mirzoyan expressed thanks for the hospitality he received in our country. He stressed that it was an honour for him as the first Armenian Foreign Minister to visit our country in order to take part in official bilateral discussions. He officially invited Minister Borg to visit Armenia, where the discussions can be further extended, even on many symbolic issues and subjects that exist between the two countries. He said that he looks forward to continuing to build on and strengthen what is already there.
The meeting also continued with a discussion on the European Union’s relations with Armenia, the war in Ukraine, Malta’s seat on the United
Nations Security Council and Malta’s commitment to further collaborate with Armenia in the context of the OSCE.
