Prime Minister Robert Abela said that “the government wants to continue incentivising investment and encourage those who create jobs so that workers have a better quality of life”.

While in Gozo, he visited the renovated Arkadia complex in Victoria, where he met with many workers employed in different establishments and The Segond hotel in Xagħra with an investment of €6.5m.

In both visits, Prime Minister Abela was accompanied by the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, while government deputy Abigail Camilleri accompanied Dr Abela on the visit to Arkadia.

At Arkadia, the Prime Minister was given a tour by the Mizzi Organisation's management, which operates the complex. It was explained that this is a commercial space sought not only by Gozitans but also by those who visit the three-hilled island. The investment made in the renovation was highlighted, ensuring that the complex continues to attract important business brands while improving the customer and employee experience in a beautiful environment.

“Nearly 250 people work in the latest investment at Arkadia,” Abela said, stressing the importance of growth and investment as a way of creating more jobs.

“The government remains focused on the crucial work of creating quality jobs, continuing to improve the situation for workers, including those in Gozo, where Gozitans can find rewarding work in Gozo itself,” added Abela.

In Xagħra, at the boutique hotel The

Segond, Abela noted the confidence in our country through investment in the hospitality sector.

The management of SmartGroup Malta, which invested in the hotel and created 21 additional jobs, remarked that the pandemic period was challenging but believed in the potential of the Gozitan tourist market, which has regained its strong momentum. “The recent Easter period showed a very positive trend for the island of Gozo,” they claimed.

In the hotel, which consists of 51 rooms including nine with private pools, Abela explained that “the government wants to continue incentivising investment and encourage those who create jobs so that workers have a better quality of life”.
