Exciting Cassar Petroleum finals this weekend

-

Two race meetings will be held at the Marsa racetrack this weekend, first tomorrow with the first race starting at 7pm, and then on Friday 28 October, commencing at 1.30pm.

Each meeting is an eight race all-trot card, with five finals on a 2,140m distance from the Cassar Petroleum Autumn Championship and Condition races being spread across the two meetings.

The highlight is the final for Premier class trotters where 12 well-known finalists will battle out for another important honour i.

A truly international field, the twelve finalists hail from Germany, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.

These include former Prix de Vincennes winner Mont Cenis Honey and multiple championship winner Think Yatzee, each of which won their last two races, Sette Giugno Cup winner Zilver Boko, last season’s revelation Livi Cantona and all the others, Shakira Trot, Veikko Hornline, Noble d’Ete, Count of Life, Troy Boshoeve, Matrix Reloaded, Maximal Value and Celebrity Photo.

The Gold class Condition Race final features several finalists having registered wins in their last races, such as Ygor of Pass and Ollico Pellois (two wins and a runner-up position), Netter Williams (winner of its last two races), Ozerio and No Comprendo (winners of their last race). The other finalists are equally valid, i.e. Newman, Keeping Quality, Baron GL, Orion du Vaumicel and Hulot.

The Condition Race finals for the Silver, Bronze and Copper classes are equally balanced, all guaranteeing uncertain outcomes.

The remaining races are over the sprint 1,640m distance, which last week provided us some excellent timings. Will the Premier class horses improve last week’s excellent best time of 1’14’0 per kilometre, with popular horses such as Candy Fantasy, Mars, Label Chouan and all the others providing optimal competition?

But this week the focus of attention will be on the Cassar Petroleum Finals, do or die races where all participants are competitive but only one can be the winner
