Alfred Mizzi Foundation sponsors Malta Historical Society cultural activities
The Malta Historical Society would like to thank Alfred Mizzi Foundation for generously offering to sponsor the Society’s cultural activities for the coming year. The sponsorship will particularly make it possible for the Society to continue organising its monthly academic lectures which aim at promoting the scientific study of Maltese history and culture in its various forms. These lectures are widely popular among the Society’s members and the public in general.
It was, in fact, on the occasion of the Society’s last lecture, on 18 September, that Derek Vella of the Alfred Mizzi Foundation presented their sponsorship of €1,500 to Joan Abela, secretary Historical Society.
The Alfred Mizzi Foundation was set up in 2004. The overall objective of the foundation is the promotion, diffusion and safeguarding of the Maltese culture and heritage, education, the environment and social solidarity. It is for this reason that the representatives of the foundation felt that the Malta Historical Society would be an ideal partner. The Malta Historical Society is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1950 and its aims are the study of the History of Malta, the diffusion of its knowledge and the safeguarding of Maltese historical heritage.
