HSBC Malta manager runs training courses in Far East

-

HSBC Malta Senior Private Clients Manager in Retail Banking & Wealth Management (RBWM) Ian Casingena has spent five weeks in Vietnam and Hong Kong as part of HSBC’s programme for investing in its employees and identifying talent-related opportunities.

During the five-week attachment, Mr Casingena connected with HSBC Group colleagues to launch wealth-management products while also running a series of training programmes for HSBC Premier Relationship Managers (PRMs). This training addressed the financial planning process with the aim of increasing PRMs’ ability to identify customer priorities, thus offering more personalised RBWM products that meet the customers’ needs.

“One of our primary goals was to tap the local market by driving the launch of OpenEnded Funds (OEFs). This operation ran smoothly after coordinating a great deal of preparatory work and talks with the fund managers in Vietnam,” explained Mr Casingena. “Another objective was to increase investment and insurance sales in these markets. This included working with the RBWM’s product team and the Global Banking teams on product development and customer incentives for wealth management products.

“Such work experiences broaden employees’ opportunities. I returned with new insights and a better overall understanding of how HSBC operates across the globe. I now look forward to sharing this knowledge and experience with my colleagues here in Malta.”

With a population of 90 million people, and home to 1,600 HSBC employees, Vietnam is one of the group’s fastest growing businesses. RBWM Hong Kong is one of the group’s largest wealth management businesses and provided exceptional opportunities for Mr Casingena to assess the regional capabilities, which could then be used in RBWM Vietnam.

Following his successful work attachment, Mr Casingena will be taking up the role of Vice President Premier Proposition and Wealth Development with HSBC Vietnam with effect from 1 January. He will be moving to Ho Chi Minh City in Saigon with his family for a period of three years on secondment.
