Santos stadium closed after problem with ambulance

Brazil's sports tribunal has prohibited Santos from hosting matches at its Vila Belmiro Stadium because an ambulance didn't have access to the field when a player was seriously injured in a Brazilian league match.

Atletico Mineiro defender Rafael Marques collapsed after being hit in the head in a match against Santos on Wednesday, staying on the field for nearly 10 minutes because the ambulance couldn't get into the pitch because of a blocked entrance. He was eventually transported from the field on a stretcher.

The tribunal says the stadium will be reopened only after Santos shows it has made changes to allow the entrance of ambulances.

Marques spent the night in a hospital but was released the next day after tests showed no serious injuries.
