NHS goes live with enhanced health records management and RFID solution by 6PM

-

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has gone live with a new Health Records Management and Tracking System provided by Maltese company 6PM. Not only does the system move the Trust to a location-based filing system that is already proving to be significantly more efficient, it also includes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology, which allows records to be automatically tracked as they are transported around the hospital.

Motorola SmartMobile handheld devices then allow the user to quickly locate an individual’s record that could be among several hundred records in a secretarial office or clinic. Additional enhanced cost-saving features with the new system include automated clinical prep along with third party storage and retrieval management.

Commenting on the contract, head of Outpatients and Health Record Services Jackie Brown said: “The new system, which has been quickly adopted by our team, is not only very easy to use but is incredibly more efficient than the traditional case notes tracking tools.”

“The implementation of the file tracking solution will allow the Trust to get the paper under control and make significant cost savings to prepare them for the next stage of their programme, which will be an Enterprise Document Management system. The speed with which the Health Records staff adopted the system was phenomenal,” said 6PM Holdings plc deputy CE Steve Wightman.
