Music with the MPO and MYO in Pjazza San Gorg

For the third year running, the spectacular Pjazza San Gorg in Valletta will once again be transformed into a mass space for popular entertainment. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be teaming up with the Malta Youth Orchestra for an evening of well loved popular classics on Thursday 26 June at 8.30pm.

The exhilarating, imaginative and inspiring American conductor Kelly Kuo, will be directing the 100 strong orchestra in this unique concert.

The eclectic programme chosen for this evening is made up of works that are extremely well known by everyone. Although not necessarily known in their classical context, they will definitely ring a bell and be linked to television adverts, a film soundtrack or even mobile ring tones!

This year’s programme features a toe tapping Overture to Girl Crazy by Gershwin, the exhilarating L’Arlesienne Suite No 1 by Bizet. Film scores will not go amiss, featured by the music of the iconic hero Superman by John Williams. And how about music from Loewe’s My Fair Lady, immortalised by the star performance of Audrey Hepburn?

The concert will be free of charge, don't miss Malta’s leading musicians of the MPO and the young energetic musicians of the MYO. Entrance to Pjazza San Gorg on the night will be free of charge and on a first-come first-served basis.
