KMS holds its first dance show

● Overwhelming response prompts organisers to add third show

For the first time KMS Skolasport presented over 200 ballet and dance students in a colourful show entitled Colours at the newly built auditorium of the Immaculate Conception Girls Secondary School in Tarxien. As there was a great response from the public for tickets, the students performed an extra third show to meet the demand.

Sponsored by Kellogg’s, the show was choreographed by KMS Skolasport dance director and choreographer Roxanne Gauci and assisted by dance teachers Alison Bugeja, Jean Claude Dimech and Stacey Giordmaina. The very young children in colourful costumes performed various ballet pieces while older students showed their talent in Modern Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop and Latin American dance routines.

Kellogg’s, the world’s leading producer of breakfast cereals, has been supporting KMS Skolasport for these past 14 years as part of its commitment that good nutrition, coupled with physical exercise lead to a healthy lifestyle. Skolasport, through the KMS Programmes Department has been offering dance classes for these past 10 years and for the first time ever it was decided to organise a big scale event to highlight the talents of these students who some of them have been attending Skolasport ever since.

Mark Cutajar, consultant to the Minister of Education said: “Colours has given our dance students a platform to expose their talent on stage. With over 1,200 persons attended the show, this first performance has been very encouraging for both the choreographers and students. Thanks to the support and dedication of the participants’ parents, relatives and Kellogg’s, our main sponsor, we have presented a spectacular show which was enjoyed by everyone.”

The show was attended by the Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youths and Sports, Chris Agius, KMS chairman Dr Luciano Busuttil and KMS Board members.
