Bank of Valletta reels in support for local film industry

-

Bank of Valletta and the Malta Film Commission have officially entered into a two-year collaboration agreement with the objective of working together to support the filming industry which is considered as one of the potential areas for growth in the local economy. The agreement was signed at Bank of Valletta’s head office in Santa Venera between Charles Borg, chief executive officer, Bank of Valletta and Engelbert Grech, film commissioner.

Speaking about the bank’s role through this collaboration agree- ment, Mr Borg said: “Bank of Valletta has always been at the forefront in supporting the business and in spearheading initiatives which seek to attract investment to Malta. The filming industry is one of the economic pillars with growth potential and it is a pleasure for Bank of Valletta to associate itself with the Malta Film Commission, forming an agreement which will support the industry in attracting more business to our shores.”

Mr Grech thanked Bank of Valletta for its support, stating that “this is a collaborative effort which will help generate added value towards the continuous economic development of the film industry. The Malta Film Commission is continuously striving to attract films to Malta that will create sustainable jobs and generate economic growth. This agreement with Bank of Valletta is an important step forward in view of the gap which existed in the film industry. I am confident that this agreement will facilitate the work of the local producers and will make Malta even more competitive on an international level”.
