Senior PKF Malta partner to address captives conference in Toronto

-

For the fourth consecutive year, PKF Malta will be participating in Canada’s premier Captive Insurance event for risk managers. The Captives & Corporate Insurance Strategies Summit will take place at the Sheraton Center Toronto, located in the heart of this vibrant city, on 27th28thMay.

At this year’s event, PKF Malta senior partner George Mangion will be among the highly-quali- fied speakers. He will be discussing onshore versus offshore and locating captives within EU. The topics will cover issues such the primary benefits of EU domicile, differences in onshore and offshore domicile environments and fronting partners’ approach offshore and onshore captives.

The conference will source captive and corporate insurance tactics, practices and innovations directly from cross-industry risk management leaders, explaining strategies on how to maximise profit and minimise risks. A mix of case studies and panel discussions on highly relevant topics will give the delegates unparalleled depth and breadth. They will be able to hear how industry practitioners and experts are employing a variety of tactics to mitigate risks and lower longterm costs.

This conference, which has been running for many years, is mainly sponsored by the Caribbean island of Barbados, which is a tax haven and attracts a special type of insurance business having risks outside Canada but not necessarily covering European risks. PKF has been trying to advance the idea that, as part of the EU, Malta has a number of advantages to offer, not only because it is fully com- pliant with legislation such as Solvency 11 directives but because it also offers favourable tax incentives for Canadian companies setting captives wishing to insurance European risks.

Insurance practitioners interested in attending this challenging conference can obtain more information from Anna Golis, assistant marketing executive at PKF Malta, at agolis@pkfmalta.com
