Gozitan twins win free year’s travel with Malta Public Transport

-

To celebrate its first anniversary since the introduction of the tallinja card, Malta Public Transport awarded one year free travel to the person with the most trips in each category of the tallinja card: Adult, Child, Student, Concession and Gozo.

In Gozo, this prize was awarded to twins who topped their category with over 1,500 trips each made in a year.

Patrick and Joseph Vella, 46 from Għarb, go on six to eight bus trips each day. In a meeting with Godfrey Attard, who is Malta Public Transport’s Gozo Depot Manager, the men agreed that the bus service is very efficient and practical. According to their day-to-day experiences, they said that they are seeing continuous improvements in the service.

“It is my pleasure to reward such loyal customers,” said Attard. “When we noticed that the two people with the most trips in Gozo were twins, we decided to extend our gift to both of them so that they can that they can continue to travel together.”

The twins lived in Australia from the age of seven to their late twenties, when they returned to Gozo due to the allure of the local climate and their love of the Gozitan culture. They both expressed strong views about public transport. Patrick raised concerns about the way some passengers treat bus drivers, stating that drivers are put under a lot of stress. Joseph also suggested that people get rid of cars and use public transport.
