GO eSports Festival attracts 200 competitors

-

200 competitors will be taking part in the GO eSports Festival this weekend from Friday 29 July until Sunday 31 July. The festival, organised by gamers.com.mt at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, will feature three games; Overwatch, League of Legends on PC and FIFA 16 on PS4. As the main sponsors of gamers.com.mt, GO is providing the fibre internet network for this event, including upload speeds of 100MB. The competition will see participants playing in group stages on Friday and Saturday with semi finals and finals taking place on Sunday. Competition winners will receive either monetary or hardware prizes.

Gamers.com.mt was established in 2012 to meet an unmet demand from Maltese gamers for competitive tournaments. The GO eSports Festival will be the organisation’s tenth event and will feature improved high end equipment and a specially constructed stage for the final phases of the tournament, further improving the viewing experience of the public.

Kurt Camilleri, GO’s Chief Commercial Officer, said, “eSports is a fast growing global activity which brings together millions of people from around the world. The GO Malta eSports Festival taking place this weekend will, in fact, highlight both the increasing levels of interest in eSports in Malta, and the high standard of competitors. With GO’s technical support, particularly that of fibre internet, as well as additional logistical, marketing and financial backing, both the standard of events and the ability of Maltese gamers to compete on the global stage will take another big step forward. Just as GO has taken the decision to support eSports, we will continue to do the same with all those who wish to make the most of the new opportunities which technology is opening up for us all.”
