Special edition of the Malta Film Fund

As part of the government's strategy to aid and foster the local film industry, this year, the Malta Film Commission will be releasing a special edition of the Malta Film Fund.

This call for the production of original Maltese content will aid in the development of cinematographic art in our country. The goal of this special edition is to increase substantially the amount of Maltese and Gozitan films, particularly in preparation for the event of Malta’s presidency of the European Union next year, and in 2018 when Valletta will be the European Capital of Culture.

New and established film-makers are invited to present production projects such as films, animations, documentaries, and even television series, which are aimed for an international audience. Proposed projects will be evaluated independently by a panel of highly esteemed profes- sionals including foreign experts from the film industry.

With a budget allocation of €250,000, selected projects could be awarded a maximum grant of €120,000, with a maximum of €20,000 for Short Films, and a maximum of €2,500 for New Talent Short Films. Beneficiaries of selected projects will be provided with training and professional mentoring.

This special edition of the Malta Film Fund will open on the 1st of September and will end on the 31st of October. Detailed guidelines, criteria and application form for the Malta Film Fund 2016 – Production Support can be found and downloaded from the Malta Film Commission website http://www.maltafilmc m/malta-film-fund/.

All applications are to be submitted to the MFC, by hand, by 12 noon on Monday, 31 October 2016.
