The Gozo NGO Association has elected a new committee for 2016-2018 through an election process, which was concluded on 29 July during an Extraordinary General Meeting, held at the Gozo NGOs Centre. The electoral process was conducted by an Electoral Commission chaired by Dr John Paul Grech, Dr Nadia Vella, Dr Joe Ellis and Mauro Pace Parascandolo, representing the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations.
In its first meeting the new Council elected Saviour Grech as president of the Association. Ryan Mercieca was confirmed as secretary. The other elected members are Ryan Bajada, Eman Borg, Rudoph Camilleri, Charlene Debrincat, Joseph Mercieca and Marc Schembri. In the coming days the Association will be co-opting three other persons to fill in the vacant posts on the Council.

It represents its membership made up of over 180 Gozo-based NGO members, on the MCSED’s Gozo Regional Committee as well as on the Gozo Local Action Group Foundation. It also aims to safeguard the local NGOs’ interests and also provides outreach both on the national as well as on the international level, helping them to acquire funds (both EU and governmental) as well as to facilitate contacts and opportunities for networking.
