Del Potro beats Nadal to reach final against Murray

Juan Martin Del Potro reached the gold medal final beating Rafael Nadal after three sets.

In a three hour marathon Juan Martin Del Potro won the decisive set after a tie break.

Nadal won the first set 7-5, but lost the second one 6-4.

Del Potro will now face Andy Murray in the final. The Scottish star had the better of Kei Nishikori in two sets in one hour and twenty minutes. Murray won 6-1, 6-4.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has won the Olympic bronze medal in women's tennis.

Kvitova beat American Madison Keys 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 yesterday, running away with the third set after dropping the last four games of the second.

Since winning her second Wimbledon title in 2014, the Czech lefty hasn't been beyond the quarterfin­als at a major.

Australian Open champ Angelique Kerber, who beat Keys in the semis, had to play against Puerto Rico's Monica Puig for gold late lasy night.
