MAPFRE Middlesea employees join boys of St Patrick’s Residential Home on boat trip

-

In line with its CSR Programme for the year 2016, MAPFRE Middlesea organised a boat trip for some of the young residents of St Patrick’s.

On Tuesday 9 August, a group of employees of MAPFRE Middlesea joined a group of 30 boys on a fourhour boat trip. The group had the chance to stop in two bays in Gozo and Comino to swim and snorkel. Later, they also shared food prepared earlier by the boys and the carers themselves. The trip also served as a farewell to Fr Jeremy Vella who for a number of years served as the leader of the residential home in Sliema.

St Patrick’s residential service welcomes adolescents and young boys a home away from home, due to personal or social circumstances. At present, over 35 boys aged between 9 and 20 are under the care of the home. The care team members do their best to create an authentic family spirits, helping the boys achieve life skills. The boys are provided with the necessary financial and psycho- logical support, while being encouraged to become independent at a later stage in life. Besides their studies, the boys are encouraged to participate in extra-curriculum activities.

“It is always a pleasure to spend time with the residents of St Patrick’s and to witness the good job being done by the carers, leaders and volunteers of the residential home. These boys deserve to be loved and respected,” Ana Zammit Munro, Marketing Manager at MAPFRE Middlesea said.
