Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling was sent off for exuberantly celebrating a stoppage-time winner that led to fans spilling onto the pitch at Bournemouth and sparked a police investigation on Saturday.

Sterling was shown a second yellow card of the game after celebrating scoring in the seventh minute of stoppage time among jubilant away fans to clinch a 2-1 victory in the English Premier League.

As City fans leapt on the field, City striker Sergio Aguero also exchanged words with a policeman and Benjamin Mendy was held back by other officers.

Police said two fans were arrested, while Britain's Press Association said the case could look at the actions of a City player following a complaint by a Bournemouth steward.

"Officers are reviewing CCTV of the pitch encroachment as part of an ongoing investigation to establish whether any other offences may have been committed," Dorset Police said in a statement. "This investigation is in the very early stages."

City manager Pep Guardiola was bewildered that Sterling saw red.

"If you cannot celebrate with the fans, the best solution is not to invite the fans," Guardiola said. "You can imagine how happy he is, how happy the fans are."

City recovered after falling behind when Charlie Daniels spectacularly struck into the roof of the net from a tight angle but Gabriel Jesus leveled in the 21st minute.

After three rounds of its first Premier League campaign, Huddersfield is unbeaten and yet to concede after drawing 0-0 against Southampton. Brighton collected its first point since gaining promotion by holding 10-man Watford 0-0.

But West Ham and Crystal Palace have opened the season with three successive losses. West Ham lost 3-0 at Newcastle, while Palace was beaten 2-0 by Swansea.

Brighton hit the woodwork twice and earned their first English Premier League point after drawing with 10-man Watford 00.

Watford remained unbeaten through three rounds, while Brighton has yet to score in the league.

Watford was a man short from the 24th minute, after Miguel Britos was sent off for a studs-up tackle on Anthony Knockaert.

Knockaert hit the left upright before he was jumped on by Britos, who received his third red card in 20 league games.

Just before halftime, Solly March's cross in from the left was diverted onto the left post by Watford defender Christian Kabasele.

Huddersfield extended its unbeaten start to life in the English Premier League with a 0-0 draw at home to Southampton.

Both sides had chances to snatch the points. Steve Mounie and Thomas Ince went closest for Huddersfield, while Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand had a late header cleared off the line by Tommy Smith.

David Wagner's Huddersfield launched its first top-flight sea- son in four decades with two straight victories and has seven points from a possible nine.

Mauricio Pellegrino is unbeaten at the start of his Southampton reign, collecting five points.

Newcastle scored its first, second and third English Premier League goals since returning to the top tier in a 3-0 win against last-placed West Ham yesterday.

Newly promoted Newcastle lost its opening matches to Tottenham and Huddersfield without scoring.

Joselu marked his first start for Newcastle with a goal as manager Rafael Benitez celebrated a first win of the season.

The Spanish striker converted Christian Atsu's 36th-minute cross to lift the mood at St. James' Park. Defender Ciaran Clark and substitute Aleksandar Mitrovic added second-half strikes.

West Ham has conceded 10 goals and lost three league games, all away from home due to its London stadium hosting the world athletics championships.

In the late game Manchester United kept their 100 percent record beating Leicester 2-0 with late goals after striker Romelu Lukaku missed a penalty early in the second half, a penalty which was saved by Leicester goalkeeper Schmeichel.

Substitute Rashford had only been on the field for three minutes when he fired the Red devils in front on 70 minutes with another substitute Fellaini, doing the same feat sealing the issue with the second goal on 82 minutes, eight minutes after entering as a substitute
