Zabbar SP Qormi 0 3

Qormi kept their hundred percent record with an impressive 3-0 win over Zabbar.

It was Qormi’s best peformance so far this season as they were by far superior over the newly promoted side. The match was keenly contested with Zabbar finishing the match with ten men.

Zabbar had the first attempt inside the first minute with a Kurt Borg header slightly over the bar, but Qormi took the lead on 16 minutes when a Yankam cross from the right was headed in by Caetano da Silva who was completely unmarked in front of goal.

Qormi dictated matters as Zabbar looked unable to cope with Qormi’s superiority in midfield. On 22 minutes Zabbar custodian Grech saved brilliantly a Michael Camilleri low drive and five minutes later Luke Busuttil was floored by Pace Briffa just inside the box, and from the penalty spot Michael Camilleri made no mistake.

Zabbar should have reduced the arrears with a Kurt Borg lob that hit the side netting.

Zabbar coach Alfred Attard made a double substitution and Zabbar took some initiative but it was Qormi who once again wnet close near the end of the half with a Michael Camilleri drive well saved by Grech and a Luke Busuttil header just wide.

On the resumption Zabbar went all out in search of goal and had some good moments in the opening ten minutes.

But on 55 minutes Qormi wrapped up the match with a third goal scored brilliantly by Michael Camilleri who placed the ball in the top corner of the net.

The match was now dead and buried with Qormi in full command and missing several scoring chances to increase their tally, but it would have too much on the young Zabbar side.

Eight minutes from time Zabbar were reduced to ten men when Neil Falzon was shown a red card.
